Richard Shields joined Hygrade in 2018 as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Shields has over 30 years of experience in the Building Materials industry in the segments of insulation, metals, composite roofing, decking, reinforcements, and resins. He started his career with Owens Corning where he held engineering, plant maintenance and operations leadership positions in multiple locations. Prior to joining Hygrade Mr. Shields held positions at GAF, Asahi Glass Company and Oldcastle Architectural (previously Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies). He has international manufacturing experience from his time with Asahi Glass Company of Japan where he led manufacturing process improvements at their Tokyo based resin plant. At Oldcastle Architectural he was responsible for operations where significant process improvements were made around safety, quality, service, and efficiency supporting the overall business and eventual sale by private equity.
Mr. Shields holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lakehead University.
